Specifically, the women and girls who make up half the continent's population but remain underrepresented in the rooms where technology is built. Gender-inclusive AI in Africa is not a "nice-to-have" feature; it is a fundamental requirement for ethical development.
When technology is developed in a vacuum, it fails to account for the unique lived experiences of African women. From facial recognition software that struggles with darker skin tones to credit-scoring algorithms that penalize women in the informal economy, the "integration gap" is real.
